KUALA LUMPUR: Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) has confirmed receiveing notice of resignation from executive vice president and Upstream Business chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Anuar Taib.
Petronas chairman Datuk Ahmad Nizam Salleh said the board of directors has received Mohd Anuar’s notice two days ago and he will be stepping down for personal reasons.
Ahmad Nizam said the departure of Mohd Anuar will not have any impact on the group’s execution of business plans and strategies.
“Petronas, as a group, has a strong retention policy, but we do respect personal choices. He has already notified us of his personal preference and we respect that.
“We have a strong succession plan and we don’t think that (the departure) will have any impact on our execution of business plans and strategies,” he said during a press conference of the group’s first half (1H) financial performance, here, today.
Ahmad Nizam said Mohd Anuar’s successor will be announced over the short-term.
On June 28, Petronas’ subsidiary, Petronas Gas Bhd had announced the departure of Mohd Anuar as its chairman and director, effective July 1.
Petronas then clarified reports on Mohd Anuar’s position as the group’s executive vice president and Upstream Business chief executive officer, stating that he remains in his position.
