KUALA LUMPUR: Dagang NeXchange Bhd (DNeX) has appointed Datuk Sri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir as its independent and non-executive director effective from today.
DNeX chairman Tan Sri Abd Rahman Mamat said Syed Zainal's track record and decades of experience in various industries, was expected to contribute to the company's business growth.

Last monday, DNeX appointed Mohd Azhar Mohd Yusof as acting group managing director as part of the group's efforts to drive its business in response to changing economic environment and need for fresh new ideas.
Prior to his retirement on June 10 this year, Syed Zainal was a non-independent non-executive director of Petronas Dagangan Bhd.
He began his career as a project engineer with Petronas Gas Sdn Bhd in 1987, before joining Petroliam Nasional Bhd in 1992 as senior executive of the company's corporate planning and international business development unit.
Syed Zainal then left to join HICOM Holdings Bhd in 1995, where he assumed various senior positions in the company.
Syed Zainal lent his expertise to Perodua when he was appointed senior general manager in 1999.
Subsequently, he was appointed executive director of Perodua Auto Corp Sdn Bhd in 2002, and later promoted to deputy managing director of Perodua in October 2005.
Thereafter, Syed Zainal also held various key positions in established corporations including Proton Holdings Bhd as group managing director, RHB Bank Bhd and RHB Islamic Bank Bhd as independent non-executive director and Petronas Dagangan as chief executive officer/managing director.
