KUALA LUMPUR: Proton Holdings Bhd has launched limited, special edition models for its existing main line-up of the Iriz, Saga, Persona and Exora.
The decision was made after Proton found success with last year's Saga anniversary edition where its limited 1,100 units were sold out in five days.
Designed to broaden the appeal of each of the models while offering more choice to customers, the limited edition models are mostly cosmetic in makeover while retaining their existing powertrain.
Only 500 units of the Iriz R3 limited edition, and black editions of the Persona and Exora will be available with the exception of the Saga R3 limited edition having 2,000 units.
"By launching four special edition models today, Proton is giving its customers more choices," said Proton Edar Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Roslan Abdullah.
"These are products manufactured in Malaysia targeted to Malaysian car buyers and are reminders that Proton is and always will be a 'full-service' car manufacturer with the ability to design, develop and build our own cars from a clean sheet of paper," he added.
As the name implies, both Iriz and Saga get the motorsport appeal with the R3 limited edition.
Priced at RM52,900 and RM42,300 respectively the cars come in black with the company's brand of R3 bodykit decal inside out.
The Iriz will be equipped with 16-inch R3 alloy wheels while the Saga with 15-inch alloy wheels with matte grey finish. Interior comes in black-yellow finish, leatherette seats and R3 carpet mats.
The Persona and Exora black edition come in black with gold accents primarily highlighting the bumpers and alloy wheels.
Both come with black leatherette seats, door trims and floor console inside with the Persona receiving the black treatment for the headlining, while the Exora is fitted with an overhead monitor.
They are both priced at RM54,700 and RM67,800 respectively.
Prices are on-the-road without insurance with sales tax exemption until June 30.
