KUALA LUMPUR: Media Prima Bhd has appointed Rafiq Razali as its new group executive director effective from February 18.
Chairman Datuk Dr. Syed Hussian Aljunid said Rafiq had extensive experience, having been responsible in key business transformation initiatives within the group.
He is also a respected figure in the digital media landscape having worked in several startup companies prior to joining Media Prima.
"Rafiq's new role at the group level will enable Media Prima to further explore new opportunities across all media platforms while offering clients with innovative and integrated media solutions," he said.
Rafiq holds a Bachelor of Science (First Class Honours) in Actuarial Science from Pennsylvania State University, United States.
He completed Asean senior management development program from the Harvard Business School ACM.
Rafiq first joined Media Prima in 2016 as chief executive officer of REV Media Group formerly known as Media Prima Digital).
He was also instrumental in the group's strategic acquisitions and expansion of its digital asset portfolio.
These acquisitions, along with digital assets developed internally by capitalising on Media Prima's popular intellectual properties, helped solidify Media Prima's reach as the leading digital platform in Malaysia among mobile users, and as the third highest, behind Google and Facebook, in terms of overall digital audience reach in the country.
Under his leadership, REV Media also forged strong partnerships and licensing deals with global digital brands such as Mashable, IGN and Technave.
