Celcom, PLUS to unlock seamless mobility for users

KUALA LUMPUR: Celcom Axiata Bhd and PLUS Malaysia Bhd have teamed up to unlock seamless mobility experiences and co-create sustainable value for Malaysian consumers.

The companies today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the development of total fleet management solutions, integration of both loyalty platforms as well as exploring 5G applications in supporting highway operations.

Celcom chief executive officer Idham Nawawi said the collaboration signified its continuous strive to drive the nation's Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0) agenda as a digital enabler in driving the Internet of Things (IoT) adoption for Malaysian industries.

"Celcom and PLUS share a common ground of connecting Malaysians through our own capacity and infrastructure. I am optimistic that the synergy between the two organisations will further transform the nation's road and transport ecosystem towards the development of a smart digital nation," he said at the MoU signing ceremony today.

PLUS managing director Datuk Azman Ismail said the pact is a natural step as the highway company aims to unlock seamless connectivity and positively impact the entire socio-economic environment.

Azman said through Celcom's 5G connectivity and IoT technology, the partnership provides a strong platform for PLUS to enable and prepare the nation towards experiencing "the highway of the future, today".

"The journey will kick off with the development of Smart Fleet Management Solutions for our commercial vehicles under the PLUSTrack program.

"Exclusive to our fleet members, the fleet management system enables tracking of vehicles, improves drivers' safety and assists fleet operators in their vehicle maintenance with the aim of increasing efficiency and productivity of vehicle fleets and enhancing the safety of our highway communities," he added.

Celcom and PLUS will also work towards the development of cross products and services such as mobile connectivity offering for PLUSTrack members and business partners at PLUS' rest and service area.

These unique offerings together with loyalty programs for both PLUSMiles and Celcom rewards platform will soon be made available on mobile, via the Celcom Life App and PLUS App.
