KUALA LUMPUR: AwanBiru Technology Bhd (Awantec) has appointed Rezal Rahman as its new chief executive officer (CEO) effective from February 1, 2022.
The company said the appointment was to elevate the execution of its strategic business following a successful transformation into the multi-cloud management space.
Rezal, a graduate of Stanford University and The Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania, will take over the role from founder Dr Abu Hasan Ismail.
"Rezal's leadership will drive the company's new strategic business following its transition into the multi-cloud services industry," Awantec said in a statement today.
Rezal was formerly a director of investments (technology sector) at Khazanah Nasional Bhd prior to helming Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios as CEO.
His portfolio also includes being the chief operating officer (COO) for technology development and corporate ventures at Sapura Secured Technologies, being responsible for executing several multi-million ringgit projects under various Ministries in Malaysia.
Rezal said he saw potential in so many possible runways in Awantec.
"I have high aims and will be sharing more of our plans in due course but first let us do well in delivering Awantec's many tasks in meeting market requirements for technology and talent services and growing the business," he said.
