V.S. Industry undertakes a review of migrant worker labour practices

KUALA LUMPUR: V.S. Industry Bhd has started conducting an independent review of the company's migrant worker labour practices, which will be carried out by PwC Consulting Associates (M) Sdn Bhd.

In a statement, the company said this commitment underlines the motive for the scope of the review to be extended beyond just migrant workers hired through the recalibration programme to cover its entire workforce.

This is to ensure all gaps are identified and remedied, it said.

To recap, the appointment of PwC Consulting to conduct the review is in line with its commitment in safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of all employees, including local and migrant workers.

PwC Consulting is supported by an independent labour rights consultant in conducting the review.

VS Industry will fully cooperate with PwC Consulting and allow the team sufficient time to undertake the extensive audit work.

Further announcements shall be made if there are any material developments regarding this matter, V.S Industry noted.

In addition, the company remains open to working with any parties and welcomes any insights that could enhance and safeguard the rights and interests of all its workers.

Separately, the company continues to invest in the welfare of workers.

V.S. Industry is constructing new hostels, which cost approximately RM30 million and will be ready by June 2022.

The hostels comply with the Workers' Minimum Standards of Housing and Amenities Act, 1990 (No. 446).
