Mercedes-Benz Malaysia introduces all-new electric EQE

KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia recently introduced the EQE 350+, an addition to its electric vehicle range.

The company's chief executive officer and president, Sagree Sardien, said 2022 has been crucial for its electric initiative.

"With the introduction of the EQA, EQB, EQC, EQS and now EQE, we have the most comprehensive electric-vehicle portfolio here in Malaysia.

"The Mercedes-EQ brand is pursuing a goal that is ambitious as it is clear to build the most sustainable and technically advanced cars in the world. By bringing responsible innovation to the road, we're driving change. The EQE is the latest example of this," she said.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia vice-president of sales and marketing, Michael Jopp, added that the EQE not only boasts a luxurious and futuristic look, but also meets the expectation of customers.

"The EQE is the second model on our new platform for the luxury segment. It is the next all-purpose electric luxury sedan with the typical One-Bow-Signature Design, creating an aerodynamic and futuristic look.

"With its dynamic driving experience and comprehensive range of Connected Services, the EQE is a perfect fit for the desires of modern customers. We reconcile innovation and emotionality with sustainability, and we are actively contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions," he said.

ALL-ELECTRIC MEETS LUXURY

The EQE has an efficient drive system that can go up to 669 kilometres, with a lithium-ion battery that has a usable energy content of 90.56kWh.

The company also optimised the battery's active materials and reduced its cobalt content to less than ten per cent, which is in line with Mercedes-Benz's holistic strategy of recyclability.

All EQE models have an electric drivetrain (eATS) on the rear axle and permanently excited synchronous motors (PSM), which result in high power density, high efficiency and high power constancy.

The electric sedan's unconventional interior design makes use of extreme proportions to create an avant-garde look.

It houses the latest MBUX software that adapts to users and makes personalised suggestions for infotainment and vehicle functions.

The EQE's drive philosophy is to produce high performance and responsive acceleration on demand without any drop in power. This is achieved through a sophisticated thermal concept and several variants of energy recovery.

Sound experience is a major factor for the EQE. It is equipped with features that result in high levels of noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) comfort. Its Burmester surround sound system offers two soundscapes — warm or roaringly powerful.

Lastly, the EQE is equipped with the same safety standards as the other Mercedes-Benz models.

It comes with the Driving Assistance Plus package, which includes numerous assistance systems that support the driver as the situation requires.

Since the EQE is an all-electric car, it opened up design possibilities for its safety concept, which included installing the battery in a crash-protected area in its underbody.

AN ALL-ELECTRIC FUTURE

Mercedes-Benz is setting the course for an all-electric future, aiming to go fully electric by the end of the decade.

This strategic step from 'electric first' to 'electric only' means that the company is accelerating its transformation into an emission-free and software-driven future.

The new EQE is also designed to be sustainable, using resource-saving materials like secondary steel.

Take a look at the company's nine important building blocks of the transformation towards sustainable mobility:

  1. Electrified product portfolio
    2. Transparent dialogue
    3. Carbon-neutral production
    4. Sustainable battery production
    5. Decarbonisation of the supplier network
    6. Raw materials from certified mining
    7. Resource-conserving materials
    8. Green power for on the move
    9. Sustainable battery use
