KUALA LUMPUR: Electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider Betamek Bhd has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Krakatoa Technologies Pte Ltd to expand its vehicle electronics product offerings.
Betamek said in a statement, the MoU was to provide space for potential collaboration in order to develop electric vehicles' (EV) battery management system-on-a-chip which lined up with Krakatoa Technologies expertise.
Krakatoa Technologies is a Singapore-based semiconductor company.
It conducts business as a silicon intellectual property provider using open architecture RISCV ISA, focusing on power efficiency and customisation and develops System on Chip design for several verticals.
Betamek and Krakatoa Technologies had agreed to further discuss and negotiate on the terms and conditions of the definitive agreement for the exclusive collaboration, it said.
Betamek managing director Mirzan Mahathir said the collaboration aligned with its corporate strategy to discover opportunities to expand the business that provide valuable experience and as a guide in the automotive EMS market.
"The MoU with Krakatoa Technologies is expected to enhance Betamek Group's vehicle electronics product offerings and contribute positively to its revenue and expand customer base in the near future," Mirzan said.
The MoU will be effective for 12 months upon the execution, and may be mutually extended by both parties.
