JP Morgan's Nurjesmi named as new CEO of Affin Hwang Investment Bank

KUALA LUMPUR: Affin Bank Bhd has named Nurjesmi Mohd Nashir as chief executive officer of Affin Hwang Investment Bank Bhd, beginning June 1, 2023. 

According to Affin, Nurjesmi joins the investment bank with 25 years of experience in the banking industry and capital markets. 

Prior to joining Affin Hwang, Nurjesmi worked at J.P. Morgan Chase Bank Bhd, as an executive director and head of global corporate banking. 

Nurjesmi graduated from Syracuse University in New York with a bachelor's degree in finance. 

He began his brokerage career as an equities analyst at Maybank Securities before moving to Arab Malaysian Securities from 1994 to 1996. 

Following that, in 1996, he joined Citibank Bhd, in the small and medium enterprises section before moving on to other jobs in corporate banking.

Nurjesmi was afterwards promoted to Citibank's head of the public sector, where he supervised mostly the GLC portfolio until 2013.
