SEPANG: Teleport, the logistics venture by Capital A Bhd, plans to have a total of 10 Airbus A321 freighter (A321F) aircraft in its fleet in the next 18 months.
Teleport's chief executive officer (CEO) Pete Chareonwongsak said the company targets to have three A321Fs by the end of 2023 and add the remaining aircraft through 2025.
"Three (freighter aircraft) this year and we have a plan for 10 in the next 18 months," he told the media after the welcoming launch of Teleport's first A321F with a registration number of 9M-TLA here yesterday.
The event was graced by Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
Pete said the A321Fs will continue strengthening Teleport's dominant position in Southeast Asia as the aircraft are able to carry more capacity and fly from its base in Kuala Lumpur to over 80 destinations in the region and 80 cities in Asia Pacific.
"Today marks the arrival of the number air logistics company in Southeast Asia. We saw our growth accelerate in the past 24 months, where we have scaled a company that is profitable and on track to generate US$200 million (RM923.22 million) in annual revenues," he added.
Teleport's A321F will enable the logistics company to leverage on one fleet, one crew and one ecosystem. Its first Capital A CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said the arrival of Teleport's first A321F is a testament to the latter's hard work and dedication in the challenging logistics industry.
He said it is also a win for Capital A as it validates the company's diversification and growth strategy to be a value driven, low cost, high quality aviation and travel group.
"Our confidence in Teleport's future grows stronger as we foster collaborations with other businesses under Capital A," he added.
Teleport's A321F has 24 containerised positions on the main and lower deck that enables the aircraft to carry a maximum payload of 27 tonnes of various cargo.
This includes e-commerce parcels, express/small parcels, large volume cargo and dangerous goods.
