Kay Bin ready to help Zii Jia reach new heights

KUALA LUMPUR: Yeoh Kay Bin is honoured to be appointed as Lee Zii Jia's new head coach, replacing Wong Tat Meng.

Tat Meng recently announced that he would not be extending his contract with Zii Jia's management team, TeamLZJ, when it expires on Dec 31.

TeamLZJ confirmed Kay Bin's appointment as the new head coach earlier today via their X account.

"New mission for 2025. It's my honour to join TeamLZJ as the head coach," he wrote on his Instagram account.

Kay Bin, 44, was a runner-up at the 1998 World Junior Championships in Melbourne and secured a bronze medal at the 2007 Asian Championships in Johor Baru.

While not a decorated player, he has built a solid reputation as a coach.

Following his retirement, he coached at the New Vision Badminton Academy and had a coaching stint in China under Li Mao's guidance.

TeamLZJ said Kay Bin would bring a wealth of experience from both local and international coaching.

"He joins the team to continue Zii Jia's progress into the next phase of his career," said TeamLZJ.

On Monday, TeamLZJ also bid farewell to strength and conditioning coach Lim Joe Heang, with his replacement yet to be announced.
