KUALA LUMPUR: Close to 30 local and international companies have registered to purchase the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail (KL-SG HSR) project Request For Information (RFI) documents.

MyHSR Corporation Sdn Bhd (MyHSR Corp) said due to the overwhelming response and requests from industry players, it will extend the purchase of the RFI documents throughout the concept proposal stage.

"Interested firms and consortia may purchase the RFI Documents from now until November 15, 2023, which is the closing date for the submission of concept proposals for the KL-SG HSR project," the company said in a statement today.

Over 700 representatives from local and foreign firms, as well as foreign missions representing the full spectrum of the HSR project, attended the KL-SG HSR RFI briefing yesterday.

Apart from Malaysian companies, the RFI briefing was also attended by representatives of industry players from the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Australia, China, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Singapore.

MyHSR Corp. chief executive Datuk Mohd Nur Ismal Mohamed Kamal said that participating firms or consortia should include a clear vision and plan that will leverage rail connectivity to boost economic growth while ensuring that the sustainability and low-carbon aspects of the system are incorporated.

"We are truly heartened by the positive response from the industry and look forward to receiving high-

We need quality proposals that can align with the national and regional development plans," he said.

Mohd Nur Ismal reiterated that developments in HSR have proven to be growth engines globally, bringing about catalytic development and growth as well as multiplier effects for the benefit of all.

"Worldwide, most HSRs also co-exist with conventional railways and other modes of transport such as highways, spurring and encouraging regional economic development. Eventually, passengers and ridership will organise themselves into segments based on time, value, and other related factors," he added.
