SHAH ALAM: Gulfstream Aerospace sees an increased interest for its aircraft G280 and G600 in Malaysia and across Southeast Asia market, from corporations, individuals and governments.
While aircraft sales have been robust worldwide in recent years, Southeast Asia has experienced exceptional growth in the last couple of years.
"The G280 and G600 are well-suited for operators in Malaysia due to the booming aviation business in the region.
During the Selangor Aviation Show 2023, Gulfstream Aerospace showcased the midsize G280 and ultra-long-range G600, and he expressed optimism about introducing their products to Southeast Asia.
"Closing deals at the show is uncommon; instead, it's a place for networking and product understanding, often leading to conversations lasting weeks or even years before a purchase decision.
It will usually take at least two years to close these deals," its Division Vice President of Sales for Asia-Pacific Wayne Oedewaldt told the New Straits Times here on the sidelines of the Selangor Aviation Show 2023.
The 2023 list prices for the G280 and G600 are US$24.5 million and US$59.5 million, respectively.
To meet the rising demand in the Asia-Pacific region, Gulfstream Aerospace has expanded its authorised warranty facilities.
These facilities include Mjets in Bangkok, Thailand; Deer Jet in Beijing; Business Aviation Asia in Shenzhen; and ExecuJet Haite Aviation Services China in Tianjin.
Globally, Gulfstream's fleet numbers around 3,000, with approximately 300 of those aircraft based in Southeast Asia.
The Selangor Aviation Show 2023 three-day event opened on Sept 8 (Thursday) at SkyPark Regional Aviation Centre in Selangor.
"We heard good things about the show last year and we knew that it is going to continue to grow and we want to be part of it," Oedewaldt said.
