Johari Ghani raises stake in MyNews Holdings to 13.85pc

KUALA LUMPUR: Businessman and politician Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani has increased his stake in convenience retail chain store MyNews Holdings Bhd to 13.85 per cent through a couple of open market and off market deals.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd today, MyNews Holdings announced that JAG Capital Holdings Sdn Bhd, a company controlled by Johari, had bought 240,000 shares via the open market on October 23, 2023 and 28.5 million shares through an off market deal, on October 24, 2023.

The deal comes after a change of guard at MyNEws Holdings on September 30, 2023 with its founder Dang Tai Luk taking over as executive chairman and his brother Dang Tai Wen, named group chief executive officer. Former executive chairman Ding Lien Bing has taken on the role of advisor to the management.

JAG Capital became a substantial shareholder of MyNews Holdings with a 9.089 per cent interest on July 12, 2023 and subsequently increased its stake to 10.022 per cent.

MyNews closed 0.98 per cent higher today, to 51.5 sen a share.
