SERDANG: Police have arrested two men and a woman, who were caught in a clip that has gone viral on social media, arguing at a food court which led to one of them brandishing an object resembling a gun.

One of the suspects allegedly pointed the object at the stomach of another man for telling them to not smoke there.

District police chief, Assistant Commissioner A.A. Anbalagan, in a statement, said the police received a report yesterday on the incident, which allegedly occurred at around 10pm on Oct 13.

"The complainant had told a man to not smoke there, prior to the incident," he said.

He said a misunderstanding occurred between the two when the suspect took out an object resembling a pistol and pointed it at the complainant's stomach.

"The man left the scene shortly after. The complainant lodged a report for the safety of himself and his family.

"Following the incident, we arrested two men and a woman who is a permanent resident, to assist in investigations into the case," he said, adding that one of the suspects has a prior record for a drug-related offence.

He said police have also seized an object resembling a pistol, together with a magazine containing white balls.

"An investigation paper has been opened under Section 36 of the Firearms Act and Section 506 of the Penal Code," he said urging the public not to speculate on the case which could lead to public anxiety.

Yesterday it was reported that a video of a man concealing an object resembling a pistol during an argument at a food court has gone viral.

The 26-second video believed to be from the closed-circuit television of a food court in Puchong shows two men arguing while a woman attempts to cool down the situation.

The woman can also be seen pulling one of the men who is clad in a white round-neck T-shirt.

Another video from a different angle captures the same man lifting his arms to show an object resembling a firearm around his waist.
