Proton donates books, sets up fund for SMK Proton City

KUALA LUMPUR: National carmaker Proton Holdings Bhd has donated a substantial collection of books to SMK Proton City in Tanjung Malim, Perak and allocated a RM10,000 zakat fund to upgrade the surau facilities at school premises.

This is part of its initiative during the month of Ramadan demonstrating its commitment to education and community welfare.

The donation, comprising a diverse selection of educational materials ranging from reference books to literature, aligns with Proton's vision of empowering future generations through knowledge and learning.

The materials were sourced via an inter-company book donation campaign with over 500 books were donated by Proton staff.

The company aims to inspire students to excel academically and pursue their aspirations.

Proton deputy chief executive officer Roslan Abdullah said the contribution underscores the importance of corporate partnerships in fostering educational development and a culture of learning within communities.

By collaborating closely with SMK Proton City, the company seeks to support educators in their mission to educate future generations.

The contribution will assist enhancement activities of the surau, including the installation of a rooftop and mosaic floor for the women's prayer section, and fostering a conducive environment to perform prayers and activities.
