KUALA LUMPUR: Custom designed chip company Oppstar Bhd today announced that its unit will work with Samsung Electronics Co Ltd to produce industrial integrated circuit (ICs) manufactured using Samsung 14 nanometer FinFET technology foundry process.
Oppstar Technology Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Oppstar, is a leading Malaysian provider of custom-designed chip soluƟons, specialising in ICs such as CPUs, SOCs, ASICs and FPGAs.
Oppstar said the two companies also plans to explore cooperation on any future projects that may arise, which align with their mutual business interests and capabilities.
No further details were provided.
"We are excited to be collaborating with Samsung, which operates a leading semiconductor foundry. This collaboration will enable Oppstar to assist its customers to bring to market, specialised chips that are in significant demand. We will be able to better support our customers by providing chip manufacturing services in addiƟon to IC design and post-silicon validaƟon services, for the chips to be fabricated by Samsung," Oppstar executive director and co-chief executive officer Cheah Hun Wah said in the statement.
Oppstar's share price closed unchanged at RM1.25 a share, giving it a market capitalisation of RM799.9 million.
