KUALA LUMPUR: MMAG Holdings Bhd's subsidiary MMAG Aviation Consortium Sdn Bhd (MAC) has formed a partnership with Supreme Global Holdings (Private) Ltd to jointly explore opportunities in the aviation industry in Sri Lanka.
In a statement to the stock exchange, MMAG said MAC will offer freighter aircraft and operational assistance to set up a cargo feeder system for Sri Lankan Airlines after its acquisition by Supreme Global and its associate.
Moreover, MAC will aid Supreme Global and its partner in post-acquisition restructuring endeavours and contribute to the establishment of a strong cargo network, leveraging Sri Lanka's geographical advantage to bolster its role as a pivotal hub.
"The board believes that the agreement has potential and would allow MMAG Group to enhance its global footprint in the aviation and logistics industry through the collaboration with Supreme Global in Sri Lanka, strengthening both companies' positions and contributing to the advancement of Sri Lanka's air cargo landscape, should the acquisition plan materialise.
"The agreement is viewed positively for uniting the strengths of the Parties in the aviation services and supporting Supreme Global in the acquisition process of Sri Lankan Airlines, leveraging MAC's specialised expertise in the air cargo segment," it said.
