SD Plantation shareholders give nod to name change to SD Guthrie Bhd

KUALA LUMPUR: Sime Darby Plantation Bhd has been given the green light by its shareholders to change tits name to SD Guthrie Bhd during an extraordinary general meeting (EGM).

The special resolution garnered an overwhelming approval from shareholders, with 99.99 per cent voting in favour of the proposal.

The company has submitted the proposed new brand to the Companies Commission of Malaysia for approval.

SD Plantation chairman Tan Sri Dr. Nik Norzrul Thani Nik Hassan Thani remarked that the strong support reflects the trust and confidence shareholders have in the company.

"The SD Guthrie brand carries much significance for us as an organisation, and I am delighted that we will embark on the next chapter of our 200-year history with this storied brand," he said.

About 80 per cent of SD Plantation is held by Permodalan Nasional Bhd, Employees Provident Fund, Retirement Fund Incorporated, Lembaga Tabung Haji and Social Security Organisation.
