KUALA LUMPUR: Former employees of Mudajaya Group Bhd, have lodged a notice of appeal against a High Court's ruling in the civil lawsuit filed against them by Mudajaya.
On June 7, 2024, the high court ordered that Michael Chua Khian Keng, Tan Kah Luan and Yeo Siok Boi pay RM43.5 million to the company.
This sum represents the recognised debt of RM65 million minus the amount already recovered by the company.
Additionally, they are required to pay a 5 per cent annual interest on the RM43.5 million from June 7 until the debt is fully settled, as well as cover costs of RM500,000.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia Securities, Mudajaya said that on July 3, it submitted a notice of appeal to challenge part of the decision made by the court on June 7.
"The board and management of the company will make the necessary announcements to Bursa Malaysia Securities as and when there are further developments in relation thereof and/or upon receipt of any further directions from the court," it added.
Mudajaya's shares were down 3.4 per cent to 14 sen a share earlier.
