KUALA LUMPUR: Social media influencer, actress and TV host Hanis Zalikha, 34, has described the High Court's recent freezing of the assets of her former employees as a "first victory" for her.
"These former employees are facing trial for criminal breach of trust and it happened several years ago," Hanis told Harian Metro.
"I have high hopes for the Malaysian legal system and I strongly believe justice will be served."
Hanis added that the losses suffered by her company as a result of criminal breach of trust amounted to millions of ringgit.
"That is why the court issued an order to freeze the assets of those accused," she said.
Hanis admitted that while she was a "rather private" celebrity, she had to share news about her former employees' court case as it affected many suppliers.
"I just want to let them know the progress and say thank you because they helped me, for example, by giving me the necessary documents."
Hanis is happy that her confectionery brand Cakenis has "bounced back" after she removed the former employees.
"Over the last few years the Cakenis brand has really done well," she said.
On Oct 16, Hanis uploaded a post on Instagram, displaying a photo of the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex.
"The long-awaited victory in September. Justice has finally been served. Thank you to the High Court for this victory," she wrote.
