KUALA LUMPUR: Keyfield International Bhd's Keyfield Offshore Sdn Bhd has won a contract from Carigali-PTTEPI Operating Company Sdn Bhd (CPOC) to provide an anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) to support the latter's offshore activities.
The contract, which will commence in September 2024, is for a charter period of two years with one-year extension at CPOC's option.
"The contract for the primary charter period is valued at US$10.0 million (RM44.3 million), while the extension period is valued at US$5 million (RM22.2 million)," it said in a statement.
Keyfield Offshore also signed an agreement to acquire a second hand AHTS named MV Aulia for US$7.8 million (RM34.6 million).
First delivered in 2021, the company said Aulia is equipped with Dynamic Positioning 1 system and a bollard pull capacity of 60 tonnes and able to accommodate up to 42 persons.
"Keyfield Offshore has been chartering Aulia to its customers as a third-party vessel since February 2024 and upon completion of the acquisition,
"Aulia can be deployed immediately as Keyfield's own vessel," it added.
Keyfield group chief executive officer and executive director Datuk Darren Kee said acquiring Aulia is in line with its expansion plans.
"It can be immediately deployed in our chartering operations as our own vessel, thereby enabling us to earn a higher gross profit margin as compared to when it was a third-party vessel.
"Furthermore, the addition of Aulia to our fleet will enable us to meet the growing demand for AHTS," he added.
