Maicsa on helping organisations manage complex regulatory compliances

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (Maicsa) is supporting organisations in managing complex regulatory compliance and ensuring strong corporate governance.

Maicsa president Datuk Akbar Moidunny said it is committed to advancing professional development by providing programmes, promoting good governance and ethical practices across various sectors, and improving member engagement through comprehensive support and opportunities.

"Efforts will also focus on expanding Maicsa's influence and advocacy on both local and international stages, embracing technology to innovate its services, and fostering a culture of inclusivity and diversity within the profession and the organisation."

He added that the surge in new company registrations, especially in the post-pandemic period, along with the growing number of entrepreneurial ventures, has greatly increased the demand for strong corporate governance, compliance, and corporate administration services.

"As businesses across various sectors, including technology startups and established financial institutions, expand and evolve, they increasingly recognise the crucial role of chartered secretaries in ensuring transparency, regulatory adherence, and organisational efficiency.

"Additionally, the growing emphasis on environmental, social and governance framework further underscores the demand for governance professionals who can expertly navigate these requirements," he added.

Akbar pointed out that despite the growing demand for these specialized services, there is still a significant shortage of qualified chartered secretaries to fulfill this need.

Maicsa's Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme (CGQP), he said, is a top choice for those aspiring to become chartered secretaries and governance professionals, thanks to its stringent standards and global recognition.
