Maicsa holds forum on sustainability

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (Maicsa), in collaboration with the University of Reading Malaysia, hosted a forum titled "Sustainability Today for Tomorrow" recently.

The forum, which underscored the critical role of sustainable practices for long-term corporate resilience, was attended by over 100 participants, including Maicsa members and University of Reading Malaysia students.

It highlighted the need for integrating sustainable approaches within corporate frameworks.

Maicsa president Datuk Akbar Moidunny said the forum's focus is on sustainability, with insights on effective succession planning as a key element for business continuity and resilience.

"Sustainability is not just a concept for tomorrow; it is an imperative for today's corporate strategies to ensure long-term success," he noted.

Maicsa chief executive officer Justin J Anthony echoed the sentiment, saying that sustainability extends beyond the traditional ESG factors.

"It now requires responsible resource use, corporate accountability, and a commitment to innovation, all of which contribute to lasting organisational growth.

"Governance professionals play a crucial role in bridging these areas to support sustainable practices that meet both organisational and societal expectations," he added.
