KUALA LUMPUR: VSTECS Bhd's unit VSTECS Astar Sdn Bhd has been appointed the sole distributor for Google Pixel 9 range of smartphones in Malaysia.
VSTECS' share price was up five per cent, trading at RM3.56 a share, giving it a market capitalisation of RM1.28 billion.
VSTECS said its appointment as the sole distributor in Malaysia marks a significant milestone in the company's mission to bring cutting-edge technology to consumers.
After eight years of eager anticipation, Google's new Pixel line-up – including the Pixel 9 phones, Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Buds Pro 2 – is debuting in the Malaysian market today.
VSTECS chief executive officer JH Soong said the new Pixel 9 phones, engineered with Google Gemini AI capabilities, promise to redefine the smartphone experience with their advanced features and seamless user experience.
Meanwhile, Google vice president of devices & services business APAC Mike Abary the group is deeply committed to Malaysia and today marks the next phase of its journey.
He said with the launch of the new Google Pixel portfolio, Malaysians now have access to all of the uniquely AI-powered helpful experiences that Google offers.
The new Google Pixel line-up, including Pixel 9 smartphones, Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Buds Pro 2, will be available nationwide through major telcos such as CelcomDigi and Maxis and leading retailers, Senheng and Urban Republic.
