The 30-stock key index lost ground to close 1.29 per cent lower at 1,653 points.
This was due to profit takings on banks after the recent strong rally.
Cape EMS was among the actively traded stocks. It lost 1.43 per cent to close at 34.5 sen.
The ringgit was lower against the dollar at 4.3200.
In the crypto market, Bitcoin traded lower at RM257,944.
Ethereum was slightly higher at RM10,975 and Solana traded at RM627.
