KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia closed in the red dragged by selling pressures in utilities and plantation sectors.
At 5pm, FTSE Bursa Malaysia (FBM) KLCI was down 0.32 per cent or 5.42 points to 1,664.82 mainly due to selling activities in YTL-related counters.
The key index opened marginally higher at 1,670.55 and moved between 1,663.18 and 1,677.46 throughout the day.
The broader market saw losers lead gainers 794 to 323 while 441 counters were unchanged.
On the index board, FBM100 lost 0.39 per cent to 12,080.95, FBM Emas was down 0.45 per cent to 12,372.67 and FBM Ace tumbled 1.49 per cent to 5,081.10.
Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd stated YTL-related counters pulled down the benchmark index as one of its subsidiaries has been questioned by the Malaysian anti-graft agency.
It noted the health care sector (up 0.37 per cent) was the best performer, led by IHH Healthcare Bhd (up 5.0 sen) and Top Glove Corporation Bhd (up 2.0 sen), while the Technology sector declined the most at 3.27 per cent.
