MAG appoints former SATS Food India CEO as head of catering unit

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) has appointed Sagar Sanjay Dighe, former SATS Food India (SFSI) CEO, to head MAG Catering Operations (MCAT) effective November 1.

In this new role, Sagar will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and operational management of MCAT to ensure its continued growth as the group  strengthens its non-airline business portfolios.

He will report directly to Mohd Nadziruddin Mohd Basri, CEO of Aviation Services (MAG).

At SFSI, Sagar led significant growth initiatives, including the establishment of a state-of-the-art frozen food production facility.

With over a decade of experience with SATS Ltd in India, Sagar is known for his strategic vision and successful execution, resulting in increased market share and profitability.

His leadership in relaunching the Taj SATS brand in aviation catering and expanding into the non-aviation food sector highlights his ability to innovate and strengthen market presence.

MAG group managing director Datuk Captain Izham Ismail said  Sagar  brings fresh perspectives and a wealth of experience to advance MCAT's growth objectives, drive innovation and enhance service quality.

"As we diversify our business and strengthen our core operations, we remain committed to investing in our people, infrastructure and technology to foster continued growth. "Our aspiration is to strengthen our non-airline portfolio to contribute 30 per cent of our topline revenue by 2027, reinforcing our position as Asia's leading travel andaviation services group," he said.

Since its establishment in September 2023, MCAT has transformed from a temporary food and beverage (F&B) distribution centre at KLIA to becoming a dynamic, standalone entity to drive growth and service quality.

In June 2024, MCAT successfully expanded its operations from a mere 36,000 square feet to 70,900 square feet, allowing for increased capacity and operational efficiency, while upholding the highest standards of food safety and customer satisfaction.
