Tanco, CCCC Dredging to build Malaysia's first AI container port

KUALA LUMPUR: Tanco Holdings Bhd, via subsidiary Midports Holdings Sdn Bhd, will develop Malaysia's first smart artificial intelligence (AI) container port project.

Tanco today signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with CCCC Dredging Southeast Asia Sdn Bhd (CDSA) for the project.

The agreement formalises CDSA's role as the professional consultant for the design and engineering of the smart AI container port in Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan.

It also establishes the framework for CDSA to provide comprehensive design services for the smart AI port, which includes conceptual design, front end engineering design, and detailed engineering.

The services will encompass key aspects such as the wharf, approach bridges, harbour basin, and storage yards, positioning the port as an infrastructure project that will enhance Malaysia's role in global maritime logistics.

Tanco group managing director Datuk Andrew Tan Jun Suan said CDSA's expertise and track record in global port development will be instrumental in ensuring the successful design and execution of the AI port.

The project is part of Tanco's broader vision to establish a state-of-the-art maritime hub in Southeast Asia, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and AI solutions.

The project will be located on 194.25 hectares with natural deep-water access exceeding 21 metres, allowing it to accommodate the world's largest container ships.

Once completed, the port will bolster Malaysia's logistics infrastructure, creating new industrial zones and fostering economic growth.

"In addition, existing and upcoming comprehensive transportation network including East Coast Rail Link will further enhance Midport as a significant Southeast Asia's transshipment hub," it said.
