Around 250 Malaysian companies will participate in this inaugural event at the Dubai World Trade Centre from November 18-20, 2024, which will run alongside the Middle East Organic and Natural Product Expo.
The companies represent a diverse range of sectors, including food and beverage, beauty, agriculture, environment, Muslim-friendly tourism, franchises, Islamic finance, and halal logistics.
MATRADE chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said that MIHAS@Dubai will mark the first international event featuring the largest delegation of Malaysian companies under MATRADE's leadership.
"MIHAS@Dubai is poised to capitalise on the vast potential of the halal market in the Middle East, further solidifying its status as a globally recognised trade show. Additionally, the event plays a key role in positioning Malaysia as a leading figure in the international halal landscape," he said in a statement.
Reezal Merican highlighted Malaysia's strong leadership in the halal industry, which has been bolstered by government initiatives such as research advancements and the development of industry-supporting infrastructure.
MATRADE chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz said that MIHAS@Dubai will be an important step in the corporation's efforts to internationalise the MIHAS brand, particularly in the Middle East.
He noted that this move aligns with the trend of other leading international exhibitions being held outside their home countries, underscoring MATRADE's commitment to promoting excellence in the halal sector.
Dubai's strategic location and connectivity to key cities across the Middle East will provide Malaysian exporters with access to markets in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia, he added.
During MIHAS@Dubai, MATRADE will also organise an International Sourcing Programme (INSP), involving 120 global buyers, including premium buyers selected by MATRADE offices in Dubai, Doha, and Jeddah.
