KUALA LUMPUR: Generali Insurance Malaysia Bhd has introduced its inaugural Italian festival called Festival Del Leone, celebrating Italian culture, cuisine, wellness and community.
The festival showcased nearly 150 booths from local small and medium enterprises (SMEs), offering a range of Italian and local products, including delicious food, coffee stands, and arts and crafts.
"As part of Generali's commitment to supporting SMEs, the festival provide them a platform to showcase their products, reinforcing its dedication to empowering and fostering the growth of Malaysian entrepreneurs," it said.
Generali Malaysia chief executive officer and Generali Entities country head Fabrice Benard said Festival Del Leone is the perfect opportunity to bring a piece of Italy to Malaysia while supporting the community, local artists and businesses
"This event reflects our commitment to being a trusted Lifetime Partner, engaging with the community, and creating meaningful experiences for everyone involved," he said.
The festival also offered a variety of activities, including a Meet & Greet with Leo the Lion, Generali's brand mascot, and a Mona Lisa painting sale featuring 30 local artists' unique interpretations of the iconic artwork.
Generali said proceeds from the sale will go to Yayasan Generali Gemilang, a charitable foundation dedicated to bridging the education gap for underserved children and families in Malaysia.
A key highlight of the festival is a contest giving participants a chance to win two return flight tickets to Italy, covered by Generali Malaysia's travel insurance.
Other engaging activities included a pizza and pasta making workshop, espresso and latte art workshop and Venetian mask painting workshop for kids.
Attendees also benefitted from free basic health checks provided by Generali's NGO partner National Cancer Society Malaysia.
This included blood pressure, BMI screenings and breast cancer awareness demonstration in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
