KUALA LUMPUR: The Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2024 Series 2 wrapped up with RM 1.66 billion in potential transactions and 44,295 visitors from over 80 countries.
Organised by Invest Selangor Bhd and hosted by the Selangor State Government, the summit highlighted Selangor's growing influence as a hub for innovation and sustainable growth in ASEAN and demonstrated Selangor's commitment to positioning itself as a gateway to the region for international business and partnerships.
The event brought together 500 exhibitors from 20 countries, presenting new developments across food and beverage (F&B), life sciences, and smart city technology.
One of the key events included is the Selangor International Expo (F&B) which showcased the latest food technology, sustainable packaging and alternative proteins attracting 194 buyers from 22 countries.
Meanwhile, there is also the Selangor Life Science Convention (SLC) which convened industry leaders in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare, launching the Selangor Lab Partnership Programme and hosting events like the Selangor Life Sciences Synergy Conference and the Selangor-Korea Sustainable Futures Seminar.
The summit serves as a dedicated networking platform which facilitates over 300 business matching sessions, connecting investors, entrepreneurs, and traders to foster strategic collaborations and partnerships.
Esteemed attendees, Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Hajah Norashikin and Tengku Amir Shah, further underscored the event's significance as a prestigious platform for Asean business.
"This year marked our first attempt at organising SIBS in two series, and both have exceeded expectations," said Invest Selangor Bhd CEO Datuk Hasan Azhari.
"Selangor is increasingly recognised as a global business hub, and we are thrilled to see this reflected in the high attendance and substantial business outcomes."
Across Series 1 and Series 2 of SIBS 2024, the summit hosted 994 booths, welcomed 664 exhibitors, attracted 52,845 visitors, and generated RM 13.86 billion in potential business transactions, with 82 MOUs signed.
While the two-series format saw a slight decrease in total visitor numbers compared to 2023, the summit's substantial transaction values and partnership outcomes highlight its growing influence in the region.
With SIBS 2025 on the horizon, organisers aim to position Selangor as a centre for advanced business solutions in Asean, focusing on long-term, sustainable partnerships that foster regional growth and innovation.
