KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia closed in positive territory driven by buying activities in utilities and property stocks.
At 5pm, FTSE Bursa Malaysia (FBM) KLCI rose 0.07 per cent or 1.10 points to 1,604.25 versus Tuesday's close of 1,603.15.
The key index traded within a tight range of 1,600.83 and 1,609.41 throughout the day.
The broader market saw gainers led losers 590 to 479 while 495 counters were unchanged.
On the index board, FBM100 added 0.09 per cent to 11,887.55, FBM Emas rose 0.16 per cent to 12,190.97 and FBM Ace was up 0.77 per cent to 5,178.74.
Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd equity research vice president Thong Pak Leng said although Malaysian equities closed higher, profit taking activities still weighed on plantation counters.
He added that the benchmark index remains in consolidation mode as recent gains lack sufficient momentum for a stronger push higher.
"Hence, we expect the FBM KLCI to trend within the 1,585-1,615 for the remainder of the week," said Thong.
