KUALA LUMPUR: The World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) recently hosted a series of discussions with Saudi Arabian leaders to explore opportunities for strengthening trade, investment and regional cooperation.
WTCKL group managing director Datuk Seri Dr Hj Irmohizam Ibrahim said the engagements emphasised Malaysia's commitment to strengthening economic ties with Saudi Arabia.
The discussions with key figures such as the Mayor of Jazan, Yahya Jaber Al-Ghazwani and other leaders, had revealed immense potential for collaboration, particularly in the fields of trade, business travel and large-scale events, he said.
The discussions in Jazan centred on establishing long-term partnerships to boost investment opportunities and solidify Jazan's role as a key economic hub in the region.
Irmohizam expressed confidence in Jazan's potential to emerge as a key hub for international trade and business events.
"Its proximity to Africa offers a unique advantage for cross-continental trade and investment," he added.
Irmohizam met with Saudi Arabia's Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, Majed Abdullah Al-Haqil, in a key session focused on exploring Jazan's future growth.
He suggested setting up a World Trade Centre (WTC) in Jazan, emphasising the importance of the WTCA's global network in elevating Jazan's status as a premier international hub for business events.
"We see a tremendous opportunity for Jazan to emerge as a global hub for business events, particularly with Saudi Arabia's commitment to hosting the 2034 World Cup.
"The development of a world-class convention center in Jazan would not only bolster its standing in the global market but also contribute to Saudi Arabia's economic diversification under Vision 2030," Irmohizam added.
The visit also featured discussions with Khuzama Valley Investment (KVI), led by chairman Mansour Ayedh Alkahtani and chief executive officer Osama Hassan Ahmed, to enhance collaboration in developing Jazan's potential as a prominent regional economic hub.
