KUALA LUMPUR: Sunrise Shares Energy Sdn Bhd's unit Sunrise Megabatt Sdn Bhd has signed a deal with Zhejiang Jinko Energy Storage Co Ltd to distribute the latter's advanced battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Malaysia effective immediately
Jinko Energy is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jinko Solar Co Ltd.
Jinko Solar's business spans the core links of the photovoltaic industry chain, with a strong focus on integrated research and development, production and clean energy solutions.
Sunrise Shares will procure and distribute Jinko Energy's BESS products, including the SunGiga and SunTera series, designed to meet the diverse energy storage needs of Malaysian industries.
"This partnership with Jinko Energy marks a significant milestone for Sunrise Megabatt in expanding access to advanced energy storage technologies in Malaysia," said Sunrise Megabatt chief executive officer Matt Tan.
Jinko Solar is a globally leading photovoltaic module manufacturer and energy storage system integrator, serving more than 4000 customers across 200 countries.
It was ranked first in global module shipments for five years, with cumulative module shipments exceeding 300gigawatt by 2024.
Jinko Solar is listed on both the Shanghai Stock Exchange with a market capitalisation of 74.7 billion yuan and the New York Stock Exchange with a market capitalisation of US$1.26 billion.
The recent introduction of the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS) by the Malaysian government is expected to drive demand for BESS further.
CRESS promotes corporate access to renewable energy, making energy storage systems vital for managing the intermittency of green energy sources while ensuring stable and reliable power supply.
