KUALA LUMPUR: Perbadanan Nasional Bhd (PERNAS), under the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry, is set to transform Malaysia's franchising landscape through its flagship event, the PERNAS International Franchise Festival (PIFF) 2025.
Scheduled to take place from Feb 7 to 9 at Halls 4 and 5 of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, the festival promises to be a game-changer with its theme "Brew Your Success, Empowering Entrepreneurs".
This year, PIFF 2025 is focusing on the coffee and cafe sector, capitalising on its growing importance in the economy to create new franchising and entrepreneurial opportunities.
PERNAS acting chief executive officer Tengku Mohamed Fadhli Tengku Hamzah emphasised the festival's importance as a global convergence point for entrepreneurs, industry leaders and innovators.
"This festival unites the franchising and entrepreneurial communities, providing a platform to explore innovation, forge partnerships and drive sustainable growth," he told Business Times in an interview.
The 2025 edition incorporates Asean elements, in line with Malaysia's Asean chairmanship, and aims to blend international insights with local expertise. This unique approach will enable participants to learn, apply innovative solutions and build mutually beneficial collaborations.
Malaysia's coffee culture has seen significant growth, with the market estimated to reach RM2.2 billion this year. The cafe industry is driven by evolving consumer preferences, increased disposable income and the demand for unique cafe experiences.
PIFF 2025 will showcase these trends through exhibition booths featuring local and international coffee and cafe brands, as well as franchise innovations.
Key highlights include exhibition booths showcasing franchise innovations and various coffee and cafe brands as well as networking and business matching sessions, particularly for industry players in the coffee and cafe sector.
There will be interactive zones, such as CoffeeZonia, coffee painting and poetry and coffee sensory demonstrations.
Barista competitions and coffeebased contests for children, mini concerts and busker performances have also been planned.
In addition, Tengku Mohamed Fadhli said PIFF 2025 would offer workshops, keynote sessions and networking opportunities to aspiring and established entrepreneurs.
He said the event would encourage knowledge-sharing and skills development to help participants adopt market trends and explore innovative business models.
"By participating in this festival, entrepreneurs can position their businesses for growth in a competitive landscape," he added.
