Modenas Kriss 110 finally gets disc brake

KUALA LUMPUR: The latest iteration of Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd's (Modenas) Kriss 110 now comes with disc brakes, a first since the model's launch in 1996.

The highlight of the moped (aptly called Modenas Kriss 110 Disc Brake) are its front twin-piston disc brakes and rear drum brakes.

It is designed with twin shock absorbers riding on a pair of tubeless tyres fitted with sports rims which compliments the grey titanium engine and muffler cover paint.

Modenas chief executive officer Roslan Roskan is hopeful the new variant will be as iconic as its predecessor with all the new additions for its price.

"The added features that comes with it makes the Kriss 110 Disc Brake variant one of the best choices for first-time motorcycle buyers seeking a reliable and easy-to-handle machine. It comes with a two-year warranty or 20,000km, whichever is earlier, is EEV-certified and is fully compliant with Euro 3 emission standards. I believe that with its pricing and all its safety and style upgrades, we have a winner in our hands", said Roslan.

Roslan is also confident that Malaysian motorcycle fans will appreciate the value-for-money offered by the Kriss 110 Disc Brake variant with the added features that has been incorporated into it.

Weighing in at only 97kg, the carburetor powered motorcycle with a 4-stroke, SOHC, single- cylinder engine packs a maximum power of 4.9kW and 6.7 NM of torque.

Upgrades to the current model which was launched in Sep 2019 includes a new digital fuel gauge and gear indicator; a built-in USB charging port, new hazard light feature, and a new multi-reflector headlamp for enhanced brightness for night riding complemented by a new decal design.

It also has a shorter wheelbase and updated materials and cushion thickness of its seat without sacrificing its 6.6L under-seat compartment.

Priced at RM3,877 (before insurance and road tax) the new variant adds red as a new colour option, adding to the original blue and black hues available previously.
