Teen's final words: 'I might not come back' before fatal motorcycle accident

DUNGUN: "I am going far; I might come back or I might not."

These were the last words of 18-year-old Muhammad Abdul Aziz Ahmad Zainuddin, who died in an accident at an intersection near Kampung Baru Kuala Abang today.

The accident occurred at around 12.30pm. Muhammad Abdul Aziz was pronounced dead at the scene, suffering a broken neck and internal injuries.

His uncle, Othman Ismail, 58, who lives next door to the victim's family, said he was very close to his nephew, who was always helpful.

"Before the accident, he came to my house and told me he was going far and might not return," Othman said. "He hugged me tightly. I asked him where he was going, but he didn't answer. His face was ashen, and his eyes seemed like he had been crying."

Othman, unsettled by his nephew's unusual behaviour, invited him inside to talk more, but Muhammad Abdul Aziz left on his motorcycle. Less than 30 minutes later, Othman received a call informing him of the accident.

"I thought it was just a minor incident, but when I arrived at the scene, I found that he was already dead," Othman said.

The victim lived with his sister, Nurul Fatihah, 29, while their father, Ahmad Zainuddin Idris, 56, and the rest of the family lived in Kemaman.

Othman said Ahmad Zainuddin planned to return today to take his son to live with him in Kemaman. Muhammad Abdul Aziz had recently completed training in air conditioning repair with a company in Bandar Dungun.

Dungun District Police Chief Superintendent Maizura Abdul Kadir reported that the victim, riding a Demak motorcycle, was travelling from Kuala Abang towards his home in Kampung Baru.

Upon reaching the intersection, a lorry coming from the opposite direction suddenly turned right into the path of the motorcycle.

"The victim was unable to brake or avoid the lorry and collided with it.

His body has been taken to the Dungun Hospital Forensic Unit for further investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," she said.
