KUALA LUMPUR: Fujifilm Malaysia is collaborating with University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) to set up an endoscopy training station, a first for Fujifilm Malaysia in the country, hence supporting academic medicine in the education programmes and contributing to the Malaysian healthcare industry.
Fujifilm Malaysia's managing director, Hiro Matsuura, said Fujifilm is pleased to provide the Endoscopy System to UMMC in the latter's quest to develop medical and surgical teams as experts and specialists in the near future.
"Fujifilm is always creating new opportunities in the world of endoscopy and we are contributing significantly to the early detection of diseases. Hence, the importance of this collaboration between Fujifilm and UMMC to further strengthen the team's knowledge and skills."
The partnership will include conducting educational programmes and training sessions for medical and surgical trainees to provide better quality services to the patients as well as improve their experiences with advanced endoscopy technology.
"We sincerely hope that the training session will strengthen the collaboration between UMMC and Fujifilm, increase interactions among students, academic staff, healthcare professionals and other industry players which will ultimately further innovation and translating research to improve healthcare for the community," he added.

Commenting on the collaboration, gastroenterology and hepatology specialist at UMMC, Professor Dr Ho said that it is important to educate young medical and surgical doctors to be accustomed to the Endoscopy system by "...using and practising the training simulator to gain more experience and that we are happy to have Fujifilm Malaysia in organising the educational programmes with us".
