Janna Nick to unveil inner poet

She is in the midst of writing lyrics for her second single

ON the outside, she is boisterous and loud, but deep down, she is quite the poet.

Having released her first single, Mungkin Janji, written and composed by Kunci Demak early last year, popular actress and singer Janna Nick is in the midst of writing the lyrics for her next single, Lena Yang Tenang, composed by young singer-songwriter Ippo Hafiz.

“I want to contribute more than just my vocals this time around.

“I want fans to judge my lyric-writing skill too,” said the 21-year-old whose real name is Nurul Jannah Muner.

Lena Yang Tenang is like a lullaby. It’s a soothing tune and I hope it will be well received by everyone. I’m still working on the lyrics. I have put my heart and soul into it.

“It means a lot to me and is a reflection of what I’m going through in life right now,” she said after the press screening
of Astro’s latest telemovie, Bo Bajet, at GSC Signature, The Gardens Mall in Kuala Lumpur recently.

In the telemovie, she plays a police detective whose investigative instincts are triggered when she encounters a mysterious incident at her future husband’s hometown.

Set to air on Astro First
beginning April 22, it also
stars Saharul Ridzuan and Fatimah Abu Bakar.

Apparently, Janna has always enjoyed literature and poetrywriting since her schooling days.

She used to participate in poetry and syair inter-school competitions.

“I also took part in public-speaking contests and was part of the school’s choral-speaking team,” said the Sungai Petani-born native, who enjoys reading novels during her free time.

The recipient of the Choice Actress award at last year’s Anugerah Drama Festival Kuala Lumpur, Janna usually writes down her poems, some of which had caught the attention of Ippo.

He read a few of her pieces and turned them into lyrics for Menanti Janji, a tune specially composed for TV3’s drama series Biar Aku Jadi Penunggu, which also sees Janna starring in it, opposite Ashraf Muslim.

Performed by Ronnie Hussein, the song was released late last year to positive response.
