BEAUTIFUL, famous and smart, she’s the epitome of a young, modern and successful Muslim female celebrity. Noor Neelofa Mohd Nor has certainly earned a spot in the upper echelons of the entertainment industry, since stepping into the limelight in 2011. Only those living under a rock would not have heard of Neelofa.
In addition to managing her growing business empire, NH Prima International, hosting Astro talk show MeleTOP as well as acting, the 28-year-old is expanding her impressive portfolio with web reality show #FollowLofa.
The show is the first edition of hurr.tv’s ShowReal reality show segment on the website.
Neelofa, or Lofa as she calls herself, is the first celebrity to be featured on ShowReal. hurr.tv is an online lifestyle channel and video streaming platform managed by celebrity Elaine Daly.
DIFFERENT ANGLES
#FollowLofa is for fans who have been wanting to have a peek at Neelofa’s life beyond Instagram.
She has another similar 10-minute reality show, ILofaYou, which she produces on her own and is shown on Neelofa channel on YouTube. On the show, she showcases snippets of her personal life and a behind-the-scenes look at her business.
Beginning April 26, viewers can #FollowLofa to delve into her life, which mostly revolves around her family members, friends and see how she deals with her demanding career and her growing business empire.
“The difference between the two shows is that ILofaYou leans more towards random footage, while #FollowLofa follows my routine,” says Neelofa.
Remember how “lofattah” became a phenomenon after she and actor Fattah Amin (her Suri Hati Mr Pilot co-star) were caught in a rumour mill due to their off-screen romance? Well, the pilot webisode starts off with a lofattah meet-and-greet session with fans.
Will they finally get a clearer answer regarding her off-set relationship with Fattah? You’ll have to tune in.
QUICK PEEK
As being in the public eye has its ups and downs, what made Neelofa agree to be featured in a reality show?
“hurr.tv allows me to put in my two cents worth. I have a say in what is featured,” says Neelofa, who is in the midst of shooting a Raya-themed telemovie, Suri Hati Mr Pilot Raya.
As #FollowLofa is less than 15 minutes long, Neelofa says it’s perfect for those who watch reality shows, but are always on the go. And because it’s online, it’s easily accessible on a smart phone or tablet.
She adds: “I’m pretty much myself when the cameras are rolling, so this is a good show to see life through my eyes, as opposed to just my Instagram stories.”
On whether she may be perceived differently after the show airs, she says that it’s something she can’t control.
THANKFUL FOR RECOGNITION
Neelofa recently made headlines when she made the Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Asia 2017 list.
“When they (Forbes) approached me about two months ago to tell me that I’d been listed, I was shocked to say the least, but super thankful of course!
“I feel like it’s still too early for the recognitionas I only started my business in 2014,” she says.
“The icing on the cake was when she found out that she was one of 10 from among 300 honourees to be featured in the magazine.
It was a fun interview with the Forbes team which called me from Hong Kong,” she adds.
Neelofa is listed under the Retail & E-commerce category. NH Prima International houses brands such as Naelofar Hijab, Naelofar Abaya, LF Lens and Bellavita under one roof.
Naelofar Hijab is sold in 38 countries, including England.
“My platform in the entertainment industry gives me an advantage to market my products and advertise myself as a brand, not just to Malaysians, but to consumers abroad.”
So what’s next for the company?
“Well, we want to focus on strengthening local production.”
On another note, Neelofa has been nominated in five categories at Anugerah MeleTOP ERA 2017 slated for Sunday at Stadium Melawati, Shah Alam.
She will be competing for Hos MeleTOP, Fesyen MeleTOP, Bintang Online MeleTOP, Pelakon TV MeleTOP and Program MeleTOP.
