Actress Juliana Evans weds royalty in intimate ceremony

SHAH ALAM: Juliana Evans had always preferred to keep her lips sealed on her private life, but news on her marriage is certainly something worth sharing.

In a press statement, the actress, host and model revealed that she had tied the knot with Tengku Shariffuddin Shah Tengku Sulaiman Shah Al-Hajj at an unspecified location in Shah Alam at around 10.45am today.

The 29-year-old groom, a member of the Selangor and Johor royal family, was said to have recited the marriage pledge once and it was solemnised by the imam of Masjid Istana Alam Shah Klang, Imam Paduka Tuan Mohd Rasid Mahful.

As for the happy bride, Juliana, whose real name is Juliana Sophie Johari Evans, expressed her joy at how her big day had been a smooth one.

The solemnisation ceremony was attended by close family members from both sides.

Juliana looked resplendent in an off-white satin embroidered dress, complete with a lacy veil, while Shariffuddin looked smart in a white baju melayu, a pair of black slacks and a cream-coloured songket sampin.

“I’m now officially a wife, and I’m ready to carry the responsibilities that come with marriage.

“I hope my fans will pray for our happiness,” she added.

The news of the couple’s relationship was first made known in May last year, when Juliana posted a picture of them, dressed in outfits of similar shade, on her Instagram account.

The absence of a caption had left fans curious, before announcing weeks later that she has been seeing her mystery man, who is a member of Selangor royalty, for a year.

Last December, she denied rumours that she would be tying the knot this year.

The couple, who had opted to skip an engagement ceremony and went straight for the solemnisation, is expected to hold their wedding reception after Hari Raya.

Juliana started her career in show business in 2001, hosting a string of TV programmes. She then starred in films including like Alif Dalam 7 Dimensi, KIL and Kami The Movie; as well as TV drama series, such as Oh My English!, Kami The Series and theatre, Natrah.

Juliana said she would continue her passion in hosting and acting.

She will be starring in films Pulang and Bella & Jamie, directed by Khabir Batia and Fairul Nizam Ablah, respectively, which are set to be released later this year.
