Hero Seorang Cinderella is yet another TV drama series in the vein of Suri Hati Mr Pilot
RIDING on the success of his popular TV series Suri Hati Mr Pilot (SHMP), which aired last year and sent Malaysian fans into a frenzy over the Lofattah phenomenon, red-hot actor Fattah Amin returns with another TV drama series, Hero Seorang Cinderella, directed by Michael Ang (the same man who brought us SHMP).
But this time, his co-star and onscreen love is Nur Fazura Sharifuddin, who won the Most Popular Film Actress award at recent Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian 2017.
Noor Neelofa, who was Fattah’s squeeze in SHMP, was supposed to star alongside him in Hero Seorang Cinderella.
Fans had hoped for another Lofattah affair but she pulled out at the last minute, leaving Fazura to take on the role.
Many were wondering if the two Fs can live up to the mighty Lofattah sensation.
Pictures of the duo started popping up on social media, and immediately Fattzura started trumping the Lofattah tag.
Fans were on the edge of their seats to catch the duo’s performance in Hero Seorang Cinderella.
Finally on May 22, the show premiered on Astro Ria’s Mega Drama slot.
I’ve caught five episodes of the series, which is adapted from the novel written by Anjell.
It tells the story of a modern-day Cinderella, Nura Medina (Fazura), who lives with her father, Tan Sri Azizan (Azhar Amir), stepmother, Sri Mawar (Zizie Izette) and stepsister, Puteri Emallyn (Uqasha Senrose).
Despite Fazura being 33, her character is a university student who dreads going back home during semester breaks to face her evil stepmother and stepsister.
Like previous Cinderella adaptations, Medina is forced to do house chores and is treated like a maid in her home.
The first episode sees a long-haired Tengku Ian Uzzam (Fattah), who is sent back home from Amsterdam by his father to take care of some business.
He comes home to meet Medina’s father to discuss a potential business collaboration and develops an interest in her.
But Medina doesn’t give in that easily.
Tengku Ian then discovers how Medina is badly treated at home.
He claims he wants to be her hero, saving her fromharm.
But still, Medina isn’t convinced. It’s clear he’s after her, but only time will tell when she will fallfor the prince charming of this drama series.
You’ll be able to tell the similarities between these two soppy romantic dramas.
First, everyone is rich — you’ll be hard pressed not to find a Tan Sri or Datuk character.
Also, someone always has to be a pilot in Malay dramas nowadays, right? Instead of Fattah taking on the role here, his onscreen stepbrother, Noah Farizzam (Fikri Ibrahim), plays one instead.
Although the storyline is pretty predictable, it doesn’t really matter since fans just want to see Fattah in action.
Azhar Amir also played Neelofa’s father in SHMP.
What spices up the dramaare Zizie and Uqasha’s performances as the antagonists, even if they doover-actat times.
But hey, it is a drama series after all.
Word has it that the series has, not surprisingly, garnered positive reviews and high ratings.
I’m not hooked on it just yet but perhaps I’ll give it a few more episodes to see if this show’s a winner.
