Adam, who died in April last year, had wanted her to record a second studio album.
LOSING a sibling in April last year was a cruel blow to actress and singer Aisya Hasnaa Umaruddin.
Best known for starring in TV3’s 2014 romantic drama Romi Cinta Julia, the 26-year-old artiste was devastated when her elder brother, Adam Emir Umaruddin, succumbed to an illness at the age of 37.
Describing Adam as her biggest fan, Aisya is fulfilling his wish for her to realise her second studio album, with help from producer DJ Fuzz.
“I’ve always been close to Adam. He encouraged me to act and sing, and always commended me for a job well done.
“At the same time, he was also a kind and constructive critic, pointing out to me where I could improve,” said Aisya, who still feels the loss.
Aisya, the younger sister of celebrity chef Anis Nabila, had just recorded Usah Ditanya, written and composed by Fuzz and Amzar of Viral, and Kan Bersamamu, written and composed by Fuzz and Alabbas of Lawa Nie Geng.
“Both songs come in the R&B genre, and there will be a total of seven songs for my second album which is likely to be completed next year,” she said.
Usah Ditanya has a music video which was filmed in Melaka early this year, while Kan Bersamamu’s music video was filmed in Bali, Indonesia on May 20.
“I particularly enjoyed the one in Bali because of its scenic beaches and beautiful costumes. It was my first visit to the island, and I’ve fallen in love with it!”
The videos were directed by DJ Cza of Ahli Fiqir fame, who also happens to be Aisya’s brother-in-law.
As for acting, Penang-born Aisya is down for a tear-jerking, 13-episode drama on TV3 in August.
Titled Jurnal Suraya, it sees Nad Zainal play a cancer-stricken college student who keeps a journal of her day-to-day experiences while recuperating from the disease in hospital.
“Jurnal Suraya is painful and bitter, and almost every episode moved me to tears,” said Aisya, who plays Suraya’s best friend and college mate, Kirana.
“Kirana begins as a vulnerable character who looks up to Suraya as a role model. However, when Suraya falls ill, she has to develop strength and courage in order to support her best friend’s gradual recovery.”
The drama also stars Johan As’ari as another cancer-stricken youth who bonds with Suraya in the hospital.
Aisya’s first album was launched in 2011 with the single Lagu Mahu Kamu. She first acted in the romantic comedy Dollah Superstar opposite Datuk Awie, Sharnaaz Ahmad and Neelofa in 2014. Her other television dramas include Ketupat Palas Mr. Handsome and Percayalah.
