KILAFAIRY made headlines last year when she was chosen to perform Bollywood movie Dilwale’s official soundtrack in Malay, with Aliff Aziz, titled Gerua.
This time around, the 25-year-old actress and singer collaborates with American singer Sean Kingston, 27, in a single titled Put The Word In.
Kila, whose real name is Syakila Nisa Jahangir Khan, said the single, a blend of hip hop and pop, is composed by Brian B, who is also head of music at Tune Studios and DJ Aku Ash, with lyrics by American singer-rapper-songwriter Radio3000.
“The song is about a girl who enjoys being spoilt by her beau.
“I’m a big fan of Kingston’s work and this marks our first time working together,” she said, describing the working experience with Kingston as a pleasant one.
Kila and Kingston hit the studio a few months ago to record the single. He flew to Kuala Lumpur just for this purpose.
“We took time to film the music video, but I need to shoot additional scenes for the music video,” said Kila at Balai Berita in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Set for a year end release, the collaboration is made possible by Lion Music Group, the music label which Kila is signed under.
“Kingston is humble and professional,” she said, adding that “it’s not every day that you get to work with a star like him!”
Kila said the song would be released in Bahasa Malaysia.
“In the Bahasa Malaysia version, I will be singing in Malay but Kingston’s part will remain in English.”
