KUALA LUMPUR: Lanky K-actor Kim Woo-bin had at one time faced problems returning to South Korea from the Philippines when he was mistaken for a criminal on the run.
According to a news report by Koreaboo, the 28-year-old star, in a recent interview, explained that he was in the Southeast Asian country in June last year to film the action-crime flick Master.
But a week before his departure home, he was informed that he might not be able to leave just yet.
It all started from the actor's real name, Kim Hyun-joong. And apparently, there was a criminal on the loose in the Philippines with the same name!
In order to prove that this was a case of mistaken identity, Kim had to go through a detailed process of documentation and fingerprinting.
Thankfully, everything was sorted out within the week. He could have been detained for a month due to the fiasco.
The irony here is that Kim plays a criminal in Master.
Released in December last year, it revolves around an intellectual crime investigation team who is after a company involved in a massive fraud case.
Kim plays Park Jang-goon, the brains behind the company's criminal doings.
It also stars Lee Byung-hun and Kang Dong-won.
