KUALA LUMPUR: A video recording of Nabil Ahmad on the Internet, in which the entertainer shared his success story on a religious programme has been drawing flak from the public.
Although some were appreciated his advice and deemed it as a motivation, many more have chided the 33-year-old comedian, actor, singer, radio announcer and TV host for being arrogant and flaunting his wealth.
“What I was sharing come straight from my heart. People asked, so I answered honestly. I was only giving out free advice and people called me arrogant. When others charge a fee to share their experiences on gaining success nobody criticises them,” Nabil was reported to have said when commenting on the issue.
The Raja Lawak Season 2 champ added that the video was actually recorded three years ago, so he was very surprised to find out that it has only been uploaded on YouTube recently.
Regardless, Nabil said that he hopes that his sharing will be useful and beneficial to the viewers.
“There have been lots of appreciative tweets on the matter. But there are also many who criticised me for purposefully being conceited,” he said.
In the 16-minute video recording (https://youtu.be/c9ysKNboy60), Nabil is seen relating his experience of giving alms to the poor even when he had only RM2 on him, and at a time when he was still an unknown who was only making RM600 a month.
Nabil further shared that giving sincerely for charity is always rewarding. In this instance, he said that he has been paid back exponentially in blessings from God by gaining fame as a comedian with a monthly salary of RM50,000.
“We shouldn’t be picky or calculative when it comes to helping others. If we feel that the other person really needs help, it’s never wrong to offer our assistance,” he said.
