KUALA LUMPUR: They’re three of the biggest names in the South Korean music industry right now.
But did you know that before they hit it big, they were suppose to be members of one performing act? If that were to have taken place, wouldn't that simply be epic?
That’s what Yang Hyun-seok, the head of South Korean talent agency YG Entertainment who has produced some of South Korea’s biggest stars including BigBang and 2NE1, had initially planned.
According to news report by Koreaboo, during an interview on the talk show SBS Midnight TV Entertainment back in 2011, Yang revealed his initial plans to put the three talents into an outfit.
“However, we were unable to go through with it due to their conflicting schedules so we (roped in G-Dragon and Taeyang to establish BigBang) instead,” he said.
The two artistes, who were YG Entertainment trainees then, made their debut under BigBang in 2006 together with three other members - Seungri, Daesung, and T.O.P.
Park eventually went on to train under JYP Entertainment and debuted as a member of K-Pop boy group 2PM in 2008. He left the group the following year and carved a name as a solo artiste two years later.
Currently, Park is signed under Roc Nation, an American record label founded by top rapper Jay-Z whose artistes include Rihanna, Shakira and Alicia Keys.
He’s also one of the hosts for the upcoming Asia’s Got Talent (Season 2).
G-Dragon will be holding his second solo concert in Malaysia on Sunday at Stadium Merdeka, while Taeyang’s is on Oct 15 at Stadium Negara.
