MALAYSIAN streaming service tonton and YouTuber duo JinnyboyTV have collaborated to produce romance drama By MY Side in celebration of Ma-laysia Day.
To celebrate its premiere, the film’s cast and JinnyboyTV will meet fans at four main TGV outlets beginning today.
The first stop is TGV Sunway Pyramid in Subang Jaya, where cast members, such as Brandon Ho, Josephine Yap and Arwind Kumar, and JinnyboyTV’s Reu-ben Kang and Jin Lim, will meet fans from 3pm to 6pm today.
They will be in Penang at the same time tomorrow at TGV Gurney Paragon in George Town.
On Sept 20, cast members and JinnyboyTV will be at TGV Vivacity Megamall in Kuching from 6pm to 9pm, while on Sept 23, they will be at TGV AEON Tebrau City in Johor Baru from 3pm to 6pm.
As part of the film’s release, official By MY Side couple T-shirts will be sold at selected TGV outlets in Sunway Pyramid, One Utama, Tebrau City, Bukit Tinggi, Jaya Shopping Centre, Wangsawalk, Sunway Velocity, Kinta City, Gurney Paragon, Dpulse, Viva City, Miri, Seri Manjung, Taiping and Rawang.
Kang is the director of the film, while Lim is the executive producer. By MY Side is described as a celebration of Malaysia’s spirit of togetherness.
This collaboration is tonton’s first original movie.
The film revolves around two high school sweethearts, Ben (Ho) and Faye (Marianne Tan), who face a dilemma when Faye wants to attend a local college, but Ben wants to further his studies abroad.
“This is one of tonton’s many more collaborations, but its first original movie. We are ecstatic.
“JinnyboyTV is a YouTube sensation, and it was wonderful working with them and creating something that many Malaysians can relate to,” said Media Prima TV Networks director of tonton, licensing and merchandising Ai-rin Zainul.
The supporting cast for By MY Side are Nadia Nash, Adam Sha-mil and Maggy Wang.
There will be cameo appearances by Malaysian YouTubers, such as Jared Lim, Ernest Ng, Joseph Germani, Dennis Yin, Luqman Podolski, Shawn Lee, Jenn Chia and Mark O’dea, as well as Mandopop duo and tonton’s Chinese ambassador, ThomasJack.
